Chad is coach and owner of Metro South Gymnastics Academy, Canton, Mass.

At a competition in Tennessee, 9-year-old gymnast Cherrish Remy barrels her way toward the vault and launches herself off the springboard, but she’s off the mark.

Luckily, her quick-acting coach Chad Buczek appeared out of nowhere and caught little Cherrish before her fall could go really badly.

“I instantly broke out into a sweat,” said the girl’s mother. “It’s definitely not the first time he’s saved her,” she continued, speaking of Coach Buczek.

FIG Coach Education Worldwide

It does feel like the pandemic is over as FIG coach education courses resume.

The move towards eLearning continued with the creation of online theory courses for all Level 2 academies – another step forward after the same task had been undertaken for Foundation and Level 1 courses in 2022.

In addition, a safeguarding course was implemented and made obligatory from 1 December for all coaches who attend FIG-sanctioned events.

… Overall there were 18 FIG academies in 2023 and Africa was the focus for the first eight months of the year …
